Over the years Bill & Ruby have bought, sold and managed a variety of properties including motels, trailer parks, apartment complexes, homes, a dinner cruise ship, and a horse boarding and training stable. Business took Bill & Ruby to various locations throughout Canada and the United States but the majority of their dealings have been in Alberta, Canada.
Nilsson Livestock Ltd. was incorporated in 1964 by Bill and Ruby Nilsson as a private corporation with it's emphasis on livestock buying, selling, feeding, and land acquisitions. Their business activities have included: livestock; equipment; lumber; real estate. They have four sons, Brian, Lee, Ken, and David and a daughter, Sharon.

The history of "trading" by the Nilsson family dates back to the late 1800's in Sweden with Bill's grandfather and was brought to Canada in 1927 by Bill's father Thor. Bill began buying and selling at the age of 15 and his livestock activities have ranged from cattle to horses to buffalo.
